Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get a complete smile makeover?

It’s so much simpler than you ever imagined!

The patient I am going to tell you about is named Sandy. She was in her mid thirties when she decided to get a full set of dental veneers, and was a little nervous, like many patients are. Routines cleaning and a few whitening treatments were the most intense dental treatments she had ever experienced, and so a full set of dental veneers was daunting, but necessary. The process involved the following steps…

1. Ask Me!
At one of her 6 month cleanings, Sandy told me that she wanted to rejuvenate her smile, make it brighter, make it straighter, and keep that look for years and years. Unfortunately, her natural teeth were not ideally shaped or colored, and would have taken a lot of work to perfect. Instead, we went with a complete smile makeover: dental veneers. Sandy did not have time to bother with repeated whitening treatments, orthodontic corrections, and possible prosthodontic treatments. Veneers addressed all of these problems with one single solution.

2. Free Consultation
I told Sandy that I could schedule a free consultation right away. I examined the position, condition, and size of her current teeth, and concluded that she was an excellent candidate for dental veneers. Since the fundamental structures of her teeth were strong, there would be no problems placing the veneers directly over the top of her existing structure. We scheduled an initial visit for the following week.

3. Financing
Before Sandy returned for her impressions, she first wanted to know what options she had for financing her treatment. Like most plans, her insurance did not cover cosmetic treatments like veneers. I told her that there were many payment plans available such as CareCredit (www.CareCredit.com). These options can cost as little as $100/month. I sent her home with some paperwork to fill out, and she brought that along to her first visit.

4. First Visit
Sandy’s first visit went better than I could have ever planned. She was in and out in under an hour. Since we were expecting her right on time, there was no wait at all – she just walked right in and sat down in one of our comfortable chairs. I had the impressions ready to go, so we popped them in, waited a bit, and removed them. Now that we had an accurate model of her teeth, a lab technician was able to create custom veneers that fit perfectly to the shape and contour of her teeth. Sandy was in and out of the office in under an hour.

5. Second Visit
After waiting 3 weeks for the veneers to be created, Sandy returned for her second visit. This is when we completed the process. First I administered an anesthetic so that she wouldn’t feel any pain. After waiting a few minutes for the anesthetic to take effect, I reduced the size of Sandy’s existing tooth structure. After that, we secured each veneer one by one with a dental adhesive, and waited a few minutes for them to sit firmly. With the new veneers in place, Sandy peered into a mirror and was astonished by the instant transformation. She was 100% satisfied with her brilliant new smile!

6. Follow Up
Before she left the office, I gave Sandy a pamphlet explaining how to properly care for her new veneers, and answered all of her questions, assuring her that there would be little to no pain associated with her “recovery” and that she could go about eating all of her normal foods right away (as long as that did not include chomping on hard candies of course). At her next 6 month cleaning, we made sure there were no changes or problems with her veneers, and she was good to go.

Now that you’ve read all of my veneers newsletters you are ready to decide if they are right for you. Ask yourself: are my teeth discolored, misshapen, or just unattractive? Would I like to have a brilliant smile that everyone will admire? If yes, then you should talk to me about getting veneers, click here to schedule a free consultation.

Next week we will change topics and begin discussing an issue that affects thousands of people every day: grinding and clenching of teeth. If you or someone you know has this problem, make sure to catch next week’s newsletter for more information.
